A generated maze puzzle with a marked entrance and exit. Download the SVG for a scalable version.

How to Use the Maze Generator

    1. Choose your maze shape and size. Rectangular mazes range from 5×5 to 60×60 cells; circular, triangular, and hexagonal shapes have their own size controls.
    2. Adjust the challenge using size and maze style: Winding, Branching, or Mixed. There is no separate difficulty selector; more cells usually mean a longer puzzle to explore.
    3. Click “Generate new maze” to create another random layout. Customize the entrance, exit, colors, and labels, and reveal the solution when you need an answer key.
    4. Print the maze or download a PNG or scalable SVG. You can also export an animated solution as a GIF or a video where your browser supports recording.

Who Can Use a Maze Generator?

    Teachers & Parents

Create classroom activities, rainy-day worksheets, or quiet-time puzzles. Start with a smaller maze for beginners, then add more cells as children become comfortable following paths and spotting dead ends.

    Puzzle Book Creators

Build a collection with different shapes, sizes, and styles, and save SVG files for clean resizing in a page layout. Review each puzzle and the Terms of Service before including exports in a publication.

    Game Developers

Use maze images as puzzle concepts, prototype maps, or visual references for games. Downloads are artwork and solution animations, not playable game code or a maze-data API.

    Kids & Families

Make a new puzzle for a family challenge or a screen-free activity. Try finding the route first, then use the solution overlay or animation to compare your answer.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is this maze generator really free?

Yes. Creating mazes, showing solutions, printing, and downloading PNG or SVG files are free, and you do not need to sign up.

Can I print the mazes I create?

Yes. Use “Print maze” to open your browser’s print dialog, or download a PNG or SVG and print it later. Exports include a small “Created with thebiztools.com – Free Online Tools” credit.

    How are the mazes generated?

Mazes are generated in your browser using randomized maze algorithms. Winding uses a depth-first backtracker, Branching uses Prim’s algorithm, and Mixed uses Kruskal’s algorithm. These carve connected paths through the selected grid.

Does every maze have a solution?

Yes. The generator creates a connected maze and computes a route between the selected entrance and exit. Turn on “Show solution” to reveal that route, or use “Animate solve” to watch it being traced.

Can I use the generated mazes commercially, for example in puzzle books?

Review our Terms of Service before commercial use. They allow intended use of the tools and require you to review generated results, but do not provide an explicit unrestricted commercial license. Contact The Biz Tools if you need permission or clarification for a publication.
